In 2019 we where given the opportunity by Hoskins Contracting to supply and install 30 Nu Style Commercial Roller Shutters to the Rio Tinto operations building at the Perth Airport.
The Nu Style Shutters team, lead by Decio, came together and worked with Hoskins Contracting from planning to completion on the works and the final outcome was a precise installation delivered safely and on time. The workers inside the building have had prior issues with the internal window furnishings, and found them inadequate at reducing heat, light and glare through the summer period. A decision was made by the Rio Management to install external roller shutters to create a comfortable and ambient workspace no matter the weather. Working with PAPL and Rio Tinto’s operating procedures, inductions and safety standards was a pleasure and having the very professional team at Hoskins Contracting manage the job made for a very smooth installation process.
The job started with a precise check measure and then the manufacturing, assembly and custom powder coating of each of the Roller Shutters taking 10 working days. We the met onsite to lift the goods onto the roof structure via crane and returned to install and test the shutters over 3 days with the final live commissioning of the shutters occurring in January 2020. The 30 Shutters can be controlled individually, grouped or all together by a automated system and can also be set to a timer or temperature change.
A purpose built safety walk way was also constructed to allow for easy access for maintenance and cleaning in the future.
